Medical CertificationAll pilots (except recreational pilots) must possess a valid medical certificate in order to exercise the privileges of their airman certificates. The periodic medical examinations required for medical certifications are conducted by FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME), who are physicians with special training in aviation medicine.
